Bush Flying Africa
After spending a few weeks bush flying throughout Southern Africa I am becoming more and more comfortable with not knowing every eventuality. We flew through 5 countries not knowing exactly how customs and immigration would treat us. We knew it might be tough to get aviation gasoline in some places. We hoped everyone in the group would completely enjoy the adventure. But at the end of the day there is only so much you can control and even less you can be completely sure of while taking a flying adventure in Africa. What I learned is that people are amazing, everywhere we traveled people were willing to help make our adventure one to cherish. Sometimes we had to fuel the airplane from gas cans, sometimes we had to leave a little earlier than everyone wanted but every single person on this journey had a great time. Bush flying in Africa is an adventure everyone should take. There are things on this continent you won’t see without talking a flying safari. The skeleton coast alone is over 300 miles long, running from the Angola border to Swakopmund. The Skeleton coast is only part of the Namib desert which runs for over 1200 miles. Seeing this incredible scenery on a flying safari is the best way to absorb the scale and intensity of the land.
