Painting an Airplane Update
The progress continues and things are starting to happen quickly now. Century Aircraft Paint completely stripped my Cessna 172 Skyhawk and inspected it for dents and corrosion. They told me “this is the best airframe we have ever seen”. They did not find any and I mean any corrosion. Pretty incredible for a 40 year old airplane. Not only was there no corrosion, I believe I am having 8 tiny dents repaired, all of which are no larger than small door dings. When painting an airplane, it is like remodeling a house, when you open the walls you are bound to find problems hidden behind the surface. I expected to find something that needed repair or some old damage or something but I was incredibly fortunate and we are moving quickly to getting color on the airplane. The Cessna is now in primer and the small dings are being repaired, now I just have to wait for a spot in the paint booth so I can see the airplane turn into a gray and orange airplane.
