Chyulu Fun Flight Kenya Bush Flying
I’m finally getting to see my first rainy season in Eastern Kenya. The rains are upon us, though a bit late, and the land is beginning to turn emerald green. We decided to take the flying giraffe out to get a good view of our seasonal rivers and flood plains. It was a beautiful flight, all conducted within 20 miles of Campi Ya Kanzi, this is truly a beautiful land. We took off from our airstrip at Kanzi and flew to the plains below us, overflying the river before turning back towards the Chyulu hills. The Chyulu hills, also known as Hemingway’s Green Hills of Africa are magnificent this time of year. I have been very fortunate to spend time flying in these hills and plains over the last 5 years but this is the first time I have been here during the rains and witnessed the life that water brings. The river is flowing, the animals are abundant, the night sounds can sometimes be deafening. For an area that was completely dry with an almost talc dust just a few weeks ago, this land has transformed into a completely different habitat with just a few inches of rain.
If you have never been on safari before or if you’re a seasoned safari veteran, you absolutely should check out Campi Ya Kanzi for your next adventure. Situated at the foot of the Chyulu Hills, looking directly at Mount Kilimanjaro and being the only camp in 400 square miles, this is a one of a kind experience. Hit me up or checkout their website for more information. I feel very lucky to be part of this camp. Come fly with me.
