Hartmann to Naankuse Flight Safari

Hartmann to Naankuse Flight Safari

Quad at SunriseThe adventure continues, today’s flight safari was definitely my favorite so far during this adventure.  The day started out with a sunrise quad ride through the desert to the airstrip about 25km from camp.  Riding the quads through the desert is an incredible way to experience the sights, smells and textures of the desert.  We arrived at the airstrip just after dawn and prepped the airplanes for the next leg of our flight safari.  This leg took us from the small mountains in Northern Namibia to the coastline on the Atlantic Ocean.  We then flew southbound along the coast to Swakopmund airport to top off on fuel.  From Flight SafariSwakopmund we flew southeast to Naankuse “airport” just north of Windhoek airport in Namibia.  Airport is a term I use loosely, we landed on a dirt road near the lodge which some of us use as an airport.

The flight along the coast is amazing, the Namib desert stretches from Angola to South Africa, over 1000 miles and in some parts over 100 miles wide.  It’s something special to be that separated from human settlements.  As far as the eye can see, you are completely surrounded by sand and water, I wish I could put the feeling it gives you into words.  You feel Namib Coastcompletely insignificant when covering expanses this vast and seeing no signs of other people.  What’s even more incredible is the animals that call this part of the earth home.  There are desert adapted lions, elephants, oryx, zebra and many other smaller animals that somehow make this harsh environment their home.

This flight safari is something different than anyone else is doing.  To cover this amount of Africa, while flying at altitudes that allow you to see everything, is something truly unique.  If this type of adventure mixed with luxury is something that intrigues you, please send me an email.  We continue to develop new routes, based on client requests, to take people on adventures that are completely catered to their desires.
