Night Photo Shoot

Night Photo Shoot

Estelle Night PhotographyEstelle is such a great platform for photography. She has great lines, bright colors and a static beauty that begs to be photographed. A good friend of Wingster, JR Maddox Photography was interested in photographing Estelle at night. I don’t mean at sunset or with big bright lights, I mean DARK. I don’t know much about photography but I do know you need some light to take a photo, usually cameras have a flash built in to momentarily light the subject when taking photos at night. The process that JR used was much different than anything I have ever seen. He setup his camera in a fixed position and programmed it so that the shutter would stay open for much longer that a typical “snap” shot. While the shutter was open he would use an array of different lights to illuminate a small section of Estelle. Then, he would take another photo illuminating the next small section and so on, taking over 200 photos. After several hours of shooting he spent many more hours piecing it all together like a puzzle to produce the photo you see. JR said that it could be done better but I really like the effect. Let us know what you think by commenting below. We might try it again but we need a darker location, if you have access to a huge hangar (Estelle plus full size truck parked 20 feet away) comment below. We need a location that we can black out. Thanks JR
