Our Grand Adventure Flying with a A6M Japanese Zero – Video
It was an adventure that we probably won’t get to repeat, flying from Southern California to Anchorage Alaska, escorting one of the last 4 flying Japanese Zero Fighters. Flying any single engine piston airplane from California to Alaska would be an epic adventure, flying a WWII fighter that far, over that terrain, isn’t for the faint of heart. Enjoy this trailer for the upcoming episodes of “Zero to Alaska”.
Our mission starts out at Van Nuys Airport, just North of Los Angeles. From there we fly through California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, the Yukon Territory, then into Alaska where we cross our final mountain range headed into Anchorage. The trip took days, we had our share of problems and none of us will ever forget it. It isn’t often in life that you are presented the opportunity for true adventure. We were presented the opportunity and we jumped at it.
