Solo Flying the Phenom 100 – Video

It doesn’t happen often, but I recently had the opportunity for a little solo flying in the Phenom 100 from Santa Monica California to Dallas Fort Worth Texas. It was a beautiful day for flying in California and not too bad in Texas. Throughout the descent into Dallas, I encountered a little turbulence, light icing conditions and moderate wind. The ceilings were high and the visibility good enough to accept the visual approach into DFW.

In this video we depart Santa Monica Airport at approximately 7am for a scheduled 3 hour flight to Dallas Fort Worth. The weather at Santa Monica could not be better, clear skies, calm winds, unrestricted visibility. The route take me directly through the middle of Arizona and New Mexico into Northern Texas. From there I turn Southeast for the descent into the Dallas area. Flightaware shows the band of weather that I flew through that would later turn Dallas into a sheet of ice.
